Todd’s 100 Push-Ups [Day 2]

Posted by Todd on Wednesday Jun 10, 2009 Under Miscellaneous, Todd

So my second day of push ups has come. I’m going to be honest here. I did not want to do push ups today. At all. As I make my daily commute, every bump feels like some punching me. Hard. In the pecs, bi-ceps and abdomen. The cobblestone road is the worst. Anyway, I did a set of 12, a set of 10, a set of 3 (I collapsed, and started over), two sets of 8 and a do-all-you-can set of 21! That’s a total of 61. I’ll come clean here too; I think I need to drop lower in my push ups. It’s not looking exactly like the image here. :(

It is amazing. I have now checked your blog for the third time to see how you are doing with the pushups. I cannot believe you did 21 on that last set. Are you sure you are dropping down low enough? I did not realize that you were just starting the pushup challenge when I checked your blog the first time. I saw your initial test and I decided to go ahead and do the challenge as well. The initial test completely wiped me out. I was able to do 20 pushups but then I felt it for the two rest days before the first day. After Day one my arms were like water. To be honest, I struggled mightily to complete the 5th set of 9. I just finished my second day as well. My age is starting to show. I am struggling. I felt stronger today but I was still unable to finish the 12 in the fifth set without pausing at least twice and then I was only able to do the 12 before collapsing. I don’t think I will feel as sore but my arms still feel like water. When do you do yours, Todd? In the morning or in the evening? Good luck-You can do it.

I do think I need to go down lower. Today was EXCRUCIATING! It totally helps to know that I have committed to do this in a public forum. It was a strong motivator to keep on it this morning. On Friday I am going to force myself to drop to a more 90°-elbow position. I do my sets in the morning. I have been stretching before and after. It was funny, this morning I was totally talking to myself out loud, “You can do it! Let’s do 8! Here we go! 8 Push ups coming up!” I felt silly, but it gave me the drive I need. Thanks for commenting! Keep up the good work yourself. It is not an easy challenge.
