Growing Boy

Posted by Todd on Wednesday Jun 23, 2010 Under Baby, Family, Pictures

After his sixth-month check-up, we have some stats about the little kid:

Length: 28.5 inches

Weight: 19  lbs 11 oz

Head Circumference: 46 cm (18.1 inches)

IQ: 193 (He’s a Mensa Baby!)

It’s so much fun to see him grow up, and it is crazy how fast it goes. Six moths ago he barely fit in the little blue tub, and now we’re thinking he’s too big for it. I think my favorite thing about him is when he giggles.

You might as well compare him to his first bath time picture from six months ago after the jump here.

Six Months Old

Posted by Todd on Monday Jun 14, 2010 Under Baby, Family, Pictures

I’m really not going to waste much more space on this post other than to say, the kid is a whopping six months old! To celebrate, we went to the mall. He seemed to cooperate well with the photographer. It was fun to bring some stuff in from the house and see him respond and interact with everything around him. We noticed he is somewhat narcissistic because if he sees a picture of himself he fixates on it. He will stare, smile, and pant. Strange, but true.

We snapped a few pics. Nabbed the ones we could and get to enjoy the rest online. We hope you like staring at him as much as us. Point of pride: We had to sign a release so they can use his pictures in the store. *Can’t stop my head from inflating!* The kid keeps me humble, though. He is sitting in my lap while I type this. Taking a dump.

Enjoy the results:

He can sit up… in his chair!

Posted by Liz on Friday Apr 2, 2010 Under Baby, Family

Breakthrough day for Connor.  Everything is so new to us and exciting as we watch our baby boy slowly learn to do more things.  We have loved the grins, laughs, giggles, singing, talking, splashing, and sitting up! He loves watching the dogs play together and growl, he can’t keep his eyes off them. I have turned my head for a few minutes and come to find him grunting with his head in the seat.  I freak out, but I think he is pretty clueless, so he must be okay.  He gives the dogs more interest then they do with him.  They walk all over him when he is in his floor gym, but I just remind myself their day will come when Connor wants to pet/pull on their ears and tails.  HaHa the thought of him doing that to Wesley makes me giggle!  Oh how we love to document our baby’s every move. Enjoy!

Connor’s Best Bud

Posted by Liz on Friday Apr 2, 2010 Under Family

With all the babies being born in what we call the “baby boom” at our church, there is so far only one other boy. And he really wants to be Connor’s friend. Connor seems to like him as well. To protect his friend’s identity, we will call him Dahveed. These pictures are from his first play date, and then also the Sunday Dahveed was blessed in church. Dahveed’s dad served his mission in Liz’s home town for 10 months. 10 months is a long time to be in any area while on a mission, and spending it in Barstow made it even better. ;) It’s cool being first-time parents at the same time as friends and have someone else to commiserate with. In the words of Dahveed’s dad, “It’s much easier when you see people being parents on TV.” Read More

Getting All Gussied Up

Posted by Todd on Sunday Jan 10, 2010 Under Baby, Family, Pictures

We got Connor all ready for Church today. And, no, before you get all bent out of shape that we are going to post every outfit change or every bowl movement, we do not have plans to post every little thing that happens to him. Otherwise, I would be posting pictures of him crying right now. Not that he cries a lot. He just so happens to be crying right now.

Anyway, we put him in a striped button down shirt and no pants. Like Father like son. I also don’t like wearing pants. At Church, some people commented that “only Liz” would dress a newborn in a button down shirt. What?! I mean just cause we don’t dress our son in Poo(h), doesn’t mean it’s not cute. Right? More on my poohlosophy (Philosophy on Pooh) in some later post. It’s juicy. A juicy Pooh, perhaps… Anyway, check the pictures after the jump.

Our Baby is here!

Posted by Liz on Sunday Jan 3, 2010 Under Baby, Newborn

IMG_0828December 10th he was born!  The labor was pretty smooth, and a lot better than I thought it would be.  Struggling to find a good nap or night sleep is the worse part of the whole thing.  We are almost four weeks into it, and with all the baby books Todd is reading, along with what everybody else says, we are almost at the hump where he wont be needing to eat for 40 min. every 2- 2 1/2 hours.  He really is a sweet boy (of course I’m going to say that) he was born with Michael Buble singing in the background. :)   My mom leaves tomorrow and we are so sad about this.  She has been able to be with us for almost three weeks.  I also have some great friends and a great sister in law who makes sure I stay sane with phone calls and invites over to their homes. This is the first blog post I have made using this new thing, so hopefully you will get more from us as time goes on.  Gotta go, somebody is hungry… again.

Halloween Decorations

Posted by Liz on Monday Oct 5, 2009 Under Family, Yard

She Saved the World... A Lot.I decided to have a “Martha Stewart” Halloween this year. My friend Jeanne has some patterns for Halloween cats, and we also wanted to put some tombestones up. This is really a fun holiday to make silly thngs, and of course what is halloween without honoring THE BEST vampire show ever created???

Our Buffy tombstone reads: Buffy Anne Summers / 1981-2001 / She Saved the World… A Lot. Of course, everyone recognizes that tombstone and inscription from the fifth season finale. If you don’t recognize this, maybe you have your own tombstone.

The other two tombstones refer to the first big bad. Count Dracula’s lists each year he has allegedly been killed.

Surprise! We’re Back with an Explanation and the Reveal

Posted by Todd on Sunday Sep 13, 2009 Under Baby, Family, Pregnancy

LittleConnorOkay, so right after I asked everybody what gender they thought the baby was, I updated WordPress. It caused me to lock myself out of the admin section for about a month and a half while I did troubleshooting on the side. In the meantime, here’s the answer if you haven’t heard it already: We’re having a boy!

He made the presence of his manhood very clear during our visit. We pointed it out and stammered, “Is that his–” The answer was, “Yes, that is his [for the sake of not attracting bizarre webtraffic, I'm not going to name the member here].” It was a great experience. Since then, he has steadily grown and we can now see Liz’s belly move when he moves and kicks. Very exciting. I will endeavor to keep everyone posted.

Guessing the Gender

Posted by Todd on Sunday Jul 19, 2009 Under Baby, Family, Pregnancy

BabyAll right, ladies and gentlemen! The time has come for Liz and I to find out the gender of our child! I know I should have posted this earlier (I should have posted a lot of things, but I haven’t), but here it is: a poll. What do you think we will have? A little Boy or a little Girl? Let us know in this poll and share any reasons in the comments below.

We find out tomorrow morning, and will post the results early this week. So hurry up and submit your answer! As an incentive, we will name our child after everyone who guessed right*. We are super excited which is more excited than just normal excited. For those Ultrasound haters out there who say we should be surprised, we say tomorrow we will be just as surprised. So instead of trying to convince us to wait (because you won’t) enjoy the excitement of the moment.

What gender will our baby be?

  • Girl (60%, 3 Votes)
  • Boy (40%, 2 Votes)

Total Voters: 5

*That is not true. In fact, it is a bald-faced lie, but vote and comment anyway because it is fun.

Shock and Awe: or, Our Mistrust of all things Analog

Posted by Todd on Saturday May 16, 2009 Under Baby, Pregnancy

MistrustSo, on Thursday, April 17, 2009, Liz woke up frustrated that her time had not yet come. She took a pregnancy test which claimed she was pregnant. I happened to be working at home that morning, and heard the annoyed growl. Assuming the stick was broken, Liz came into my office, “This thing says I’m pregnant!”

The first thought that came to my mind was “What is wrong now?” Not believing it completely possible, I called my mother and asked, “Do pregnacy tests give out false positives?” She laughed, and combined with Liz’s mother’s advice, we decided to take another one.

I drove to the grocery store at 11 in the morning. Dressed in slacks and a button down shirt for a work meeting later that day, I litterally ran through the entrance to the pleasure/oops isle. I grabbed a set of two tests and ran straight to a register to check out. I can only imagine what the employees were thinking: “Well, this boy has a little surprise on his plate this morning!” Read More
